Repeat the Sounding Joy

One of the things I love about Christmas is the music and the songs we hear. Supermarkets are full of upbeat songs, with customers faces showing the joy they bring. Church is full of celebratory Carols, though often written in a version of English I don't regularly use. It’s easy to become over familiar with their words, and not take in the message they convey. This spoken word artist ( Matthew Gray) cleverly contrasts the music we hear in the supermarkets and Christmas parties with the Carols in Church. He weaves the words of several well-known Carols into a powerful declaration of the Christmas story. Listen carefully and take it in.
Key Phrase

"I think for some of us the carols can become simply words that we sing year out year in, but if hark the herald has lost its ring then the angel voices are a muted offering but at their source is a word alive, breathing."

Prayer

Father God, let this Christmas be a time when our minds are refreshed and hearts once more excited as we contemplate the Birth of Jesus. Let the richness of the Carols speak to us anew and draw us into a closer relationship with you.

Amen
