The Three Kings

Listen to the choir of Kings College Cambridge and meditate on the significance of the journey of the Three Kings.

THE THREE KINGS

The three Kings, also known as the Magi, came from an eastern land. They had devoted themselves to studying the stars. Who would have thought that they would have become part of the story of the birth of Jesus. Not Jewish, not descended from the line of David, not people the Israelites would have considered worthy, but down through history they have been part of the story. We don't know exactly where they came from. We don't even know for sure that there were three of them. We assume this, because there were three gifts. Whoever they were they made a very long journey to find this King of the Jews and offer their gifts. As it says in the song 'Three Kings from Persian Lands Afar', we cannot offer the gifts they did, but far greater is to offer Him our hearts. If you have not done so already offer him your heart today and journey now with Him.

Prayer

Father God, we each are travelling in life. Help us to see and to follow your star of mercy, your star of grace. Accept our hearts, our lives as an offering to the King of Kings, and through them may your glory be shown to the world.

Amen
